So the 4th of July came and went. No BBQ’s. No family gatherings. No ridiculous patriotic shirts. No fireworks. Boo! I love the 4th of July. Admittedly mostly because of the summer weather, condoned over eating, time with friends and family, and general craziness coupled with sloth. We realized Monday this is the forth 4th we have spent in Africa. Weird. But also normal. I gave out American flag pencils at Shule yesterday that everyone loved but beside that we really did not celebrate too much. But although we didn’t watch fireworks we have such freedom in Christ and that is worth celebrating everyday. (but I secretly hope we will be “home” sometime soon for more 4th fun….maybe next year?).

We might not have had a BBQ but we did roast some s’mores a few nights back and when looked through these pics this morning I felt they were just right for 4th of July. This S’mores-in-your-PJ’s party was made possible by a crazy generous package sent by a friend I only know through the blog-o-sphere- amazing huh? Thanks Joy!
And I think these photos pretty much sum up the experience…..
