Can I also share what I’m learning 5 years in? Pursue healing & wholeness for yourself. God will meet you there so you can be present without needing your child to affirm your mothering. Children should not have that job. I had to care for our family by getting off some adoption support groups online because I will not participate in speaking negatively about her first family.

Our children’s bio/ first family is THEIR FAMILY. Period. Trust me, the journey of building a relationship has been hard AND seeing her Nana last week I cried driving home thinking about how far we have all come.
And it is for her good. 
It is not easy -but like most things worthy of pursuing- it is good work. I am reminding myself today too.
