more friend awesome-ness.

Seriously we are blessed to have such amazing friends.  And although our time in Africa had us surrounded by people most days I often struggled with feeling lonely or misunderstood.  But that was to make me need Him more and more and so that times with friends are now more precious than ever.  We packed up yet gain and spent the weekend with dear friends who we have known since they were single and we were sans watoto.  Yes, there was life back then. We pondered how long we have been friends (which is really amazing considering our first dinner together I made an outrageously rude comment about one dusty beemer parked in the parking garage only to discover that was indeed our friend’s car). Yeah, let’s just say putting your foot in your mouth might just be my spiritual gift.  Luckily for me they are forgiving and still wanted to be friends and we have seen each other go through many challenges, changes, and rejoicing.

We hung out, we read the Word, we watched kids having way too much fun for their own good, we ate (ok demolished chips and salsa), and we shared our struggles and joys and listened to theirs in the right now of life.  Ah, that is my idea of a great weekend.

pool was closed due to crazy storms but that did not cramp our style….we just played in the rain

and when that was just not enough: the sprinkler

then the next morning we had a scavenger hunt bright and early.  Some of us were a bit slower than others due to wardrobe malfunctions….

also, there was the occasional complaint about all the “taking turns” rubbish

but in the end there was sweet, sweet victory to be revelled in with friends…
and.. hey look… there were adults supervising (ok, some of the time)…

Thanks Jim and Andrea. We count ourselves blessed to share life with you all.
