I am at Anni’s school a lot these days because they are gearing up for the big graduation celebration next week. The big day will include short plays, songs, and dances. And they called in the English speaking back-up to make sure the things the kids were memorizing were actually correct which was a good call as many songs they learn are far from “English.” Evy has joined me on most morning and now feels she is part of the play (maybe she will be a rabbit like her sister). While hanging out with the teachers at Chai time I came back to the classroom to find this….
Remember these days? I actually have no clue what they are trying to say in most of the songs but adorable none the less. Totally wanted to hold it down with “Miss Sally….sat upon it and broke her little…ask me no more questions, tell me no more lies, the boys are in the bathroom zipping up their …..flies are in the meadow, bees are in the park…Miss Suzy and her boyfriend are kissing in the D-A-R-K, D-A-R-K, Dark! ” I cannot believe after so long I still remember that one! It came flooding back when the kids were singing. I am sure there are more redeemable ones out there but that is what came to mind. Rather sketchy if you actually look at the words, eh? Gotta love kid’s clapping songs.
Some things transcend cultures! Wow! And incidentally, the boy in the background break dancing was cracking me up!!
