road trip challenge

For our second week with Jim and Rhoda we set out to Arusha so they could go on safari in some game parks and we could rest, visit our Compassion sponsored child (pics later), and enjoy the cool weather. While their major reward was nice lodges and seeing the amazing African animals (you will have to check out Rhoda’s blog for pictures later) our reward was getting there with no breakdowns, tickets, or mishaps…..collective sigh of relief. The big challenge was surviving the 9 hours in the car on African roads. This is not like a road trip in America where you can stop for fast food or bathrooms when needed, no it is a bit more of an adventure….

you can buy produce along the road for CHEAP!!

challenge: nasty choo (bathroom)…..you stand on those foot things & try not to pee on your legs & as all bathrooms are it is BYOTP
reward for us: Anni FINALLY sleeps!

Most of the trip we opted for pee breaks along the road…this is my new fav shot ever!
It just defines road trips in Africa 🙂
reward: kisses for Babu

We finally made it!! Cool weather & a swing…really does it get any better?

While Bibi & Babu were off on safari we went for a hike. Jason introduced Anni to the concept of a walking stick…she was hooked and Papa found the perfect size for her. We even saw monkeys in the trees on our jaunt. I love this face!! She wanted to use her walking stick like Papa everyday!! We did manage to see some punda milia (literally stripped donkey in Kiswahili) Anni zebra watching
